The Osceola County School Board is considering mandatory uniforms for all public schools, kindergarten through high school, in Osceola County. The school board would have us believe that uniforms will reduce gang violence in our schools, improve academics, improve self-esteem, and promote school spirit.
Unfortunately, none of that is true. This blog is dedicated to telling the truth about school uniforms, discussing the hidden costs of implementing uniforms, and organizing those of us who believe that we have the right to dress our children as we see fit, as long as we don't infringe on the rights of others.
We need your help. The Osceola school board is moving down a path that will not make any improvements in our school system, but will cost the district both time and money in trying to administer and defend a flawed policy. Please explore the links to the right to become educated on the uniform issue, and check the ways that you can help at the bottom of this web page. Most importantly, save April 15 on your calendar, come out to the school board meeting, and let the school board know how big a mistake you think you are making.
Thank you very much for your support in getting the school board to move off this issue and to begin work on real solutions that can make a difference in the education of our children.
If you would like to take a more active role in opposing Osceola County's mandatory uniform policy, e-mail us at StopOsceolaUniforms@yahoo.com.
